Artist Roxana Albu was born near the Carpathian Mountains in Piatra-Neamt, Romania. Having moved from Romania to France in 2006, she eventually settled in Utrecht in 2021.
Roxana has always expressed herself through art. But after discovering oils in 2008, she embarked on a revelatory journey of self-reflection through painting: by exploring the essence of (her)self, discovering that which is common to us all.
Her latest collection focuses on people experiencing homelessness, each one a testament to a precious moment she has spent together with her subject, but also to the loneliness they face. Roxana’s work encourages us to see one another clearly, unclouded by judgement, and to recognise the humanity we share.
