Laura Kamphuis, born in 1985, is a Dutch artist renowned for her abstract and organic paintings. Her work is characterized by the use of large amounts of water, allowing the paint to flow organically and create unique compositions. This technique invites viewers to experience art without predefined interpretations, encouraging personal emotional connections.
“Aether” — the elusive ‘something’ between heaven and earth, is the latest series of Laura. Aether represents the unseen, a bridge between the material and the divine. As artistic inspiration, it invites ethereal forms, soft hues, and flowing transitions between sky and earth. Layers of transparency and glowing textures can evoke its intangible essence. To paint aether is to capture the ungraspable, inviting the viewer to feel rather than see.
An other of her notable series is “Organic Flow,” painted with large amounts of water, which enables the paint to flow organically in the direction it chooses. The challenge for Laura as an artist is to assist that flow of direction in such a way that the composition of the piece turns out exactly how she wants it.
This spring, Laura Kamphuis will showcase her latest works in a two-month exhibition at Bunk. Visitors can anticipate an array of her organic paintings, including pieces from the “Aether” and “Organic Flow” series, offering a unique opportunity to experience her art firsthand.
