Ecopolitan & Awearness Fashion have teamed up with Bunk to celebrate 15 years of sustainable fashion.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of both Ecopolitan and Awearness Fashion. In 2009, founder Map Renes organised the first Fris Groen parties in Zwolle, and Awearness Fashion founders Wilma Mulder and Jeannette Ooink organised a major fair fashion show with a guerrilla store in Arnhem during the Arnhem Mode Biennale. Since then, both platforms have been committed to promoting sustainability in the clothing industry by inspiring consumers to adopt a more sustainable wardrobe.
Who is Bunk Funk Fashion for?
A warm welcome to everyone who already has a sustainable wardrobe or wants to learn more about it and enjoys a party. Admission is free!
Programme
The programme includes fashion acts, the unveiling of the Lost and Found design competition, table talks, a pop-up store, exhibitions, dancing to the tunes of DJ Ome Funk, taking photos in your best fair fashion outfit, drinks, snacks and meeting new friends.
Bunk Funk Fashion is made possible by Roze Bunker.
Why?
At Ecopolitan and Awearness Fashion, they explain what is happening in the clothing industry and how you can do something about it. When they started 15 years ago, hardly anyone was aware of the issues, let alone thinking about how they could change things. There is still much work to be done, but the good news is – as they quickly discovered – it’s actually not that difficult!
We are constantly enticed to buy things. Advertisements bombard us everywhere. Fast fashion brands deceive us into believing we need new clothes all the time, must follow the latest trends, and that it’s very cheap to do so. The truth is, this approach contributes to a rotten system where the earth is exhausted, people are exploited and you as a consumer end up with a ridiculously poor product. Ultimately, no one benefits.
Just half a century ago, clothing was a valuable product. Ecopolitan and Awearness want to return to that time, when we took care of our possessions and thought carefully before buying something, considering whether we really needed it and whether it would last.
“How you make the right choices and make clothes last longer can be done in many ways that suit you.” During Bunk Funk Fashion, we’ll celebrate and guide you through this journey.
