Step out of the scale and speed of ADE for a moment. While the Record Spins takes a deep dive into the history of dance music through a collection of moving images, presented on a series of tiny, vintage Vendorama screens.
Originally designed to display slides, these classic screens have been given a new life through modern technology, transforming them into miniature windows onto the world of dance. Big images become small, intimate worlds — inviting you to get close, take a moment and simply enjoy what unfolds.
Moving chronologically through different eras and genres, the installation traces the evolution of Dutch dance culture and the people and moments that helped shape it. Old-school technology meets contemporary visuals, much like the dance scene itself.
Created by Jeroen Woertink and Rutger Ter Beek, a multidisciplinary designer duo with a shared love of dance culture, technical experimentation and the social role of nightlife. Jeroen brings more than 17 years of experience across music, DJing, light art and festival production, while Rutger has more than 22 years of experience in technical production and construction. Together, they combine artistic imagination with technical ingenuity to create immersive installations that connect light, sound, technology and space.
While the Record Spins offers a slower, more intimate counterpoint to the scale of ADE. A little history, a little nostalgia and a chance to disappear into a miniature world while the record spins.
